Standing and Covered

Alone like this tree, I stand covered by the sky in full magnitude bathed in the colors it brings.

Stillness from the grass, my roots dig down deep into the earth that is my permanent home.

Who wants to be this lonely? The sky is my friend, and the grass, my children of many generations waiting to be born under this beautiful sky that covers me.

Space beyond the horizon is silent without a word to speak. My branches want to reach out, but they are still, no movement, not even a flutter. No wind to blow to cool the earth. No rain from the sky to quench my thirst, but I am covered nonetheless.

Tranquility will be my peace. Solitude will comfort me. Space will be all around me, the sky always covering me. The grass that is my children will always be mine.

If I uprooted myself and ran away, would the sky bring me back? Would the grass cry? Would the earth feel a loss, a void, or emptiness?

I think I would miss my own little space that was all mine. The sky would be glad I returned, and the grass would sway to and fro.

Even though I am alone, I have everything I need even as a tree.
