Never would I have ever thought that you would be close, but so far away. Hearing your voice made me happy,  but still brought tears to my eyes.

I try not to think about it, but my heart still breaks everyday. You are so far away, what can I say to turn things around? I need a smile where there is a frown.

Heartbroken and sad, I wish I could change the past. What’s done is done. Time heals all things that has been hurt. No more far away Christmases. I hope this is the only one. I will end this before I cry, I did not want to hear you say goodbye. Tomorrow is another day to wipe my tears away. I cry for you. Sometimes I can’t be strong, but I will hold on until the day you return home. ©2021
