This is the most hardest birthday you’ve ever had, you are not here and that makes me very sad.

I can’t hug you and see the smile on your face, but I’m gonna celebrate your day anyway.

This is the first time you’ve been gone, you left your room all alone.

I don’t know if you’ll ever return so we can sing Happy Birthday to you again.

You are grown now and finding your way in this world, I hope you’re having fun with the girls.

You’ve come a long way, I remember when no words you would say.

Our little boy has spread his wings and flown away, I just hope he doesn’t forget his way back home.

Far away you are far from me, your smile I can’t hear, and your face I can’t see.

Just know that we love you with all of our hearts, and you being far away will not keep us apart.

In our prayers you are and always will be, I wish we were together one big happy family.

I wrote this poem when our son left in 2019 to live his own life. It still seems just like yesterday though. We never really let them go. We just let them spread their wings to experience life. ©2019
