Nothing New

Every year I try to start over and do new things that makes me happy. There is always something, or someone that tries to ruin my happiness. Sometimes I wonder if this is just how it is for me in my life; the point is that I am sick and tired of going through the same things over and over again. Will there ever be anything new for me that will keep me happy? Will there ever be anything new that will make me laugh until my side hurts? Maybe some day, but for now there’s nothing new.

As years come and go, I always look for the good things that inspire me to do better. I look for joy in the things that are around me. I find myself watching the birds play. I find myself looking for the squirrels jumping from tree to tree playing. I know it is nothing new, but I do it as if it is the first time I have. I find myself looking at the sky; watching the clouds pass on by. Sometimes I just wanna reach up and grab one just to see how it really feels, but I know that will never happen.

Life moves forward whether we want it to or not, but what can we do? What can we say? The answer to those questions are nothing. We cannot do anything except enjoy it. Enjoy the time that we have here whether there is anything new or not; simply because there is nothing new under the sun that has not already been done. We may try to recreate good times, but it is never the same. Why is it never the same? It is never the same because of the changing of the times.

Times change and people change. We change because of growth, because without growth there is not change, and without change things remain the same. Change and growth are good things, because as we change we grow and learn new things. So, as to where there was nothing new, we can make new things happen by doing something different that we have never done before. Change and new things can be scary just a bit, but we just have to embrace it and roll with it; take the bull by the horns. ©2020

REMEMBER ?

As we get older we, we start to remember things that we thought we had forgotten all about. We talk about those things that we did when we were younger. We laugh about things that were not funny at the time, but some of those things that we remember makes us cry still. We never forget the good times, but we also remember the bad times as well.

We always say “remember when”? We may say yes, or no, or maybe. We often think about our younger days when we were just beginning to get to know how things worked in the world, the do’s and don’ts of life. No matter how long we live, there will always be a time when we will say “remember’.

Never stop remembering the days past; they are filled with fun. The days of our lives are seasoned with our memories that we will never forget as long as we live. We all have memories to share with our children, and they have their memories to share with us and their children some day. Most of all there is love with those memories, don’t forget to share that too.

We must never forget how far we have come to do the things that we are able to do. There was a time when we were not free to do the things we can do now, such as vote. We were not allowed to sit where we wanted, and if we tried there was trouble to follow. We were not allowed to enter through the front doors of places, use the same bathroom as the others, served in diners, the list goes on and on, but it is no longer that way.

I see faces that could tell me stories of the past; tell me how things really were then; even bring tears to my eyes. Those faces have lived through more than we will ever live through, gone through more than we will ever go through, seen more than we will ever see in our lives. Those faces are part of our history that we may never know.

In those faces are wisdom, knowledge, and the understanding of real life. I hope and pray that God will bless me to live a very long time as He has allowed those faces. Those faces talk to me, they thank me for what I do for them. It is a pleasure for me to help those faces. I feel God’s love when they just ask me my name. One face asked me if I were her daughter; that I reminded her of her daughter. I just did not know what to say, so I just smiled as my eyes welled with tears that I fought back.

This is something that I will always remember and never forget. Faces are all around us, faces of different colors and backgrounds. Just remember that God created all of our faces. We were created in His image. We are all reflections of Him, so therefore we must respect all faces. We must love all faces as Jesus loves us and laid down His for all of the faces that are here now, and for the faces to come. © 2020
