As the leaves fall slowly to the ground by the breath of the wind, they rest quietly in their slumber of sleep. The wind chills the air. No sun shines for a while, but in a quiet whisper sun rays shines through. She greets the wind with warmth as the soft clouds roll on by.
Receiving the warmth from the sun rays, the wind blows harder letting the sun know that she is here to stay. As Fall clap her hands, she greets Winter. Little does Fall know that Winter and she are going to become best friends.
As the birds gather the things that are needed for winter, they sing songs of the new Spring after it is all said and done. Squirrels are doing the same thing.
Winter blows in the ice as Fall continue to gather all of the leaves that has been stubborn to fall to their rest. Fall blows her sleepy breath one last hard time, and everything that wasn’t sleeping began to fall asleep.
Winter thanks Fall for her help. Fall leaves until next year feeling good because she did what she came to do, and she was sad because she knew that all of those pretty colorful leaves would never see the light of day again.
All in all it was bittersweet. Winter set in and did her job as she always does. Yes, she is a force of nature to be reckoned with, but when she freezes the lakes solid they become rinks for ice-skating. She can have fun in her own way.
Winter lets us see the breath we breathe. She is nice like that. She brings the feeling of Christmas. We drink lots of hot chocolate with marshmallows, cinnamon, and peppermint. She also gives us the tingly feeling to make gingerbread houses, and cookies that brings us all together.
Just enjoy the feeling of Winter, because when she leaves, before we know it she will be returning again the next year.
Merry Christmas! ©2020
