Summer, it is the time of swimming, eating ice cream, drinking a refreshing beverage that is nice and cool, and chilling in the shade.

Summer, it is is the time for air conditioners to be on, fans running, wearing shorts, slides, getting your nails done. Wearing up do hairstyles because it is to hot to have hair hanging down.

Summer, it is the time that school is out, spending time with family and friends,going on vacation to a place that you have never been. It is the time to just listen to some soft Jazz music to lull the tired heated mind to rest.

Summer, it is the time to just sit and smoke some meat on the pit and talk about the good old days of yesteryear. Playing cards, and dominoes.

As the day comes to an end, the evening starts to cool off just a bit to take a breath from breathing in heat all day.

Summer nights, the air is fresh, cool, and the sounds of the night comes out of their dens to let us know that it is time for them to have fun, because we have had ours. It is their turn to have some fun, to enjoy what they have been waiting for all day long.

Summer nights, cool and refreshing, a little humid, but not much. This is when we step out to go and enjoy the night, hang out at a favorite place with friends. Dance the night away until the next day. As morning greets us with a kind “Hello!”, we fumble in the house, fall on the couch and sleep half the day away.

We get up and get ready to wash the night away after all of the fun we had, we start all over again. Never stopping, never slowing down to take the time just to take in a little sunshine, to smell the roses, to take in a breath of fresh hot air. For the morning is gone , the coolness of the night is gone, the heat greets you as you walk out of the door.

It says,”Come on my friend and let us all do what we did last evenin’ again. It is time to party in the Summer heat, put on that slow soft Jazz beat”. Let the soft sounds lull you away on this hot , steaming hot Summer day. Let it take you into a land filled with dreams where there is laughter and no one screams. Let it take you to that happy place; so quiet, free, and serene. As you sleep and dream the day away , on this hot, steaming hot Summer day.

Hello night!, day is gone it is time for us to be alone. To be alone to have some fun just like every one on this cool Summer night. We will party the night away, just like we do every hot Summer day.

The street lights are on and there is dancing all around. Rhythm and Blues is what we hear, come close and dance with me my dear. Dressed in our refinery, suited and booted and cute, let us go and cut a rug like we used to do back in the day… when we would dance the night away.

Morning would greet us with a kind “Hello!”, as we went our own way. Memories of the past, memories of today, more memories to be made…as we sit and sip and talk the hot Summer day away. ©2019
